1.  The statement about Lt. Booth made in Soldiers of Florida is in error.  Lt. Booth contracted pneumonia while on "detached duty" and died at Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, on 7 August 1862.

2.
Richard Arthur Arline is not listed in Soldiers of Florida.  He is buried at the Lester Poulk Braswell Pearce Cemetery between Cairo and Whigham in Grady County, Georgia, under a marker inscribed: "Richard Arthur Arline - Jan 31 1833 - Mar 31 1863 - CSA Co B - 8th Fla  Reg. I"
. Presumably he was enrolled in the unit sometime between 10 May 1862 and 31 March 1863.

3.  Jacob W. Freeman died of disease in Charlottesville, VA, in March 1863, per e-mail from Chad & Judy Olivent received 6 May 2001.

This is the muster roll published in Soldiers of Florida in the Seminole Indian, Civil and Spanish-American Wars , pages 191-193.  The names on it are those of members of the 8th Florida who mustered in with the Company on May 10, 1862 or who were enrolled in it before the end of June 1862.  Muster rolls were customarily compiled at two-month intervals.  Surely there were other soldiers who, like my collateral ancestor Jonah Beale Davis , joined the Company at a later date.  As time permits, I will look into the possibility of garnering additional names and compiling a more comprehensive roster from other surviving muster rolls of the Company.
