This is the muster roll published in Soldiers of Florida in the Seminole Indian, Civil and Spanish-American Wars , pages 191-193. The names on it are those of members of the 8th Florida who mustered in with the Company on May 10, 1862 or who were enrolled in it before the end of June 1862. Muster rolls were customarily compiled at two-month intervals. Surely there were other soldiers who, like my collateral ancestor Jonah Beale Davis , joined the Company at a later date. As time permits, I will look into the possibility of garnering additional names and compiling a more comprehensive roster from other surviving muster rolls of the Company.
